nuVPN on your router
Protect every device in your home at once — TVs, consoles, cameras and guests — all through your own private server.
Why put nuVPN on your router?
Every device is covered
Smart TVs, consoles and devices that can't run apps are protected automatically the moment they join your Wi-Fi.
One fixed IP for the whole home
Every device shows the same dedicated IP — banks, workplaces and services always recognize you.
nuShield everywhere
Built-in blocking of phishing and malicious sites applies to every device on your network — even ones that can't install anything.
Set up once
No apps to install or update on each device. Connect the router once and everything just works.
The easy way: a plug-and-play travel router
We recommend a GL.iNet router (from around $40). It plugs in behind your existing router and imports your nuVPN configuration file in minutes — no technical skills needed.
Connect the GL.iNet router to a free port on your existing router and open its admin panel (usually 192.168.8.1).
In your nuVPN account, open “My VPN” and download your configuration file.
In the router panel go to VPN → WireGuard Client, upload the file and tap Connect. Done — your whole network is protected.
Other supported routers
Any router with a built-in WireGuard® client can use your nuVPN configuration file:
- ASUS — supported natively on most current models (and with Merlin firmware).
- Keenetic — import the configuration file under Internet → Other connections.
- MikroTik (RouterOS 7) — copy the values from the file into a new interface.
- OpenWrt — for advanced users: install the VPN packages and create a new interface.
- pfSense / OPNsense — add a tunnel with the values from the file.
Good to know
- All home traffic counts toward your plan's included traffic.
- Stealth mode servers require our apps — use a standard server for your router.
- Routers supplied by internet providers usually can't run a VPN. The simplest fix is adding a small travel router behind them.
Don't have a server yet?
Choose a plan and your private server will be ready in minutes — then protect your whole home with one file.
